    Fri 27 May 2022

This week, Year 1 and Year 2 hosted a jubilee tea party for their grown-ups! The children served their grown-ups the scones that they had baked as part of their DT learning. There was beautiful weather and smiles all round!

  • KS1 Trip to Hunstanton

    Tue 24 May 2022

This week,  Year 1 and Year 2 went on a trip to Hunstanton. The children visited the sealife centre and even had the chance to paddle in the sea! The children were amazing! They really impressed us with how well they behaved and how well they listened to instructions. We were super lucky with the weather and we all had a fantastic day. Here are a few photos of the trip - you can see more photos on our gallery page.

  • Ready, Steady, Cook

Tue 17 May 2022 Jonathan Newman

On Tuesday 17th May our Year 3 children had the opportunity to join in a nationwide cook-a-long as part of National Vegetarian Week. This was an exciting opportunity for the whole year group to cook together, learn new skills and a new recipe that they can then go home and cook again for their families. The workshop was provided jointly and sponsored by the ‘Cook school’ and Linda McCartney Foods.

Staff from these two organisations helped all the children to make and bake  a mini vegetarian party pie which they will then get to eat or take home, as well as providing them with ingredients to replicate it at home with you!

For parents there is a link below to the video showing what the children did.

The children had an amazing time and the pies were delicious!!

  • KS1 Jam Talk

    Tue 17 May 2022

Key Stage 1 children were lucky enough to have been visited by Alex Rembisz. We were so pleased to welcome Alex back and learn all about her work at Hain Daniels Group. The children learnt about different jam ingredients, how many jars are shipped around the UK, and how the local jam factory operates today. We were really impressed with how much the children had remembered from their "This is Histon" topic last Autumn! The children can't wait to make their own jam next week!

  • Reception trip to Wicken Fen

Fri 13 May 2022 Jonathan Newman

I was fortunate enough to accompany Class 1 and Class 2 on their school trip to Wicken Fen on Tuesday 10th March.

As you may be aware this was the first ‘proper’ school trip we have had for almost three years. We were all very proud of all the Reception children who went on the trip. Their behaviour was fantastic. They listened really well to the adults, both those from school and Wicken Fen team and asked some really great questions. They also impressed all the school staff with their fantastic scientific knowledge.

Given that this group of children spent much of their pre-school time in lockdown, without having as many opportunities to socialise as much with other children or adults, or to visit lots of different places, they were amazing! As parents/carers you should be incredibly proud of them.

Many thanks to those parents/carers and other family members who helped accompany us to Wicken Fen, especially those of you who did this at very short notice. You were all impeccably behaved too!

We all had the opportunity to go pond dipping, have a minibeast hunt and to see lots of the different animals that have made Wicken Fen their home.
