  • The Princess and the Pea

    Tue 28 Jan 2020

Year 1 were lucky to have a visit this week from Andy from 'Theatre of Widdershin'. Andy used his puppets to retell the story of 'The Princess and the Pea' in the school library. The children then had the opportunity to see how the puppets worked and to have a go at controlling the puppets. Finally they got the chance to make their own potato puppets. Everyone including the staff and had a fantastic day. We are going to use all the things we have learnt and heard to make our own versions of the story..

Many thanks to the PTA for helping to fund this exciting opportunity!

  • Skipping workshops

    Tue 28 Jan 2020
Last week we were lucky enough to have Lee from 'Skip-Hop' come in to school. Lee is a regular visitor. All the children had the opportunity to have a skipping workshop where they practiced skipping forwards, backwards, double dutch skipping and many other skills. Lee also put on two skipping shows where children in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 showcased their skills. We have now developing our skipping in the playground and plan to have a sponsored skip later in the term.
  • Movie Mayhem!

    Mon 27 Jan 2020

Huge thank you to the PTA for arranging and running four movie night sessions over the weekend.  They raised an amazing £1367 profit!

Thank you for everyone who came and to everyone who helped-your support is much appreciated!

  • Eggcellent Science!

    Wed 22 Jan 2020

Children in Foundation Stage found some dinosaur eggs in school last week! They used their scientific skills to carefully remove the 'shells' to reveal the baby dinosaur inside. The children used some great Scientific vocabulary such as 'dissolve'  to explain what they had done.

PLEASE NOTE THAT NO DINOSAURS WERE HURT DURING THE TAKING OF THESE PHOTOGRAPHS!

  • Latest photos from Buxhall Farm

    Fri 17 Jan 2020

We are all pleased and excited to pass on the news that the work on the new school site at Buxhall Farm is progressing really well.

In addition to having completed all the foundations to the building the steel frame, which will form the first part of the build, is in the process of being erected!

  • A balanced curriculum!

    Tue 14 Jan 2020
Children in Classes 2 and 3 have been having 'Balanceability' training since we came back from the Christmas holidays. Emma from South Cambridgeshire Sports Partnership comes in every Tuesday to deliver Balanceability training. The children learn important road safety messages and develop cycling proficiency skills as well as improving their balance and gross motor skills. The school has its own set of balance bikes as a result of kind donations from the PTA and the bikes are kept in tip top condition by Mr Foster, our caretaker, who regularly services them. Children in Classes 1 and 4 will have their turn after half term. The children have loved these sessions which are delivered as part of our wider P.E curriculum.
  • Exciting Castle Days

    Mon 13 Jan 2020
All of the children in Year 1 had exciting castle days last week to launch their new topic 'Dungeons and Dragons'. As well as 'dressing up' we were visited by Sir Patrick who organised all the activities and learning. We had the opportunity to learn lots of skills such as soap making, writing with feather pens and even jousting! In the afternoon we had a banquet with dancing,  singing and feasting. We have learnt a lot about life in a medieval castle and plan to develop our knowledge over the next half term. Thank you to staff for organising such an exciting start to our new topic, parents for helping with the day and the PTA for funding it.
  • Ofsted

    Sun 12 Jan 2020

On Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th January Histon and Impington Infant School had a two day Section 8 Ofsted inspection. Many thanks to all those parents and carers who contributed to the parent questionnaires. As always during the inspection the children were a credit to both the school and you as parent/carers.

It is likely that the report will be published in approximately 3 weeks and we will let you know as soon as we have any further information.
